Getting prepared for Hurricane Irma!
Getting Ready for the Hurricane: What Do I Need To Have On Hand?
Maybe I'munder-thinking it, but I feel like everyone around me is over-thinking the hurricane that could potentially hit Brooklyn over the weekend.
I mean, I guess I'll buy ice and extra milk in case we lose power and stores are closed for a day or two. But how much do I really need to have on hand? I mean, if we lose power we can't cook and all of our fresh food will go bad, so I don't want to buy extra food only have it rot in the cooler.
We have enough canned food, fresh produce, and bread and stuff to get us through three or four days. It wouldn't be gourmet eatin'—more like baked beans cooked on the barbecue—but we certainly wouldn't starve.
So what else do we need? I have plenty of diapers and wipes and a huge stash of baby food packets if Emmett doesn't want to eat our grill-heated canned food.
