Samuel L Jackson reveals scary cancer stats
Beat Cancer with Samuel L Jackson
Sam Jackson's trigger-happy hitman Jules Winnfield said it best: the path of the righteous man is beset on all sides. But among the problems plaguing modern men, be they diabetes, manxietyor simply whether your team's on a losing streak, some of our biggest worries often go unreported.
The cover star of ourJune issue– out now – is Samuel L Jackson, Chairman ofOne for the Boys, an organisation dedicated to male cancer awareness. Their message is clear: by getting the word out and educating more men on the dangers of dodging the doctor, the chances of catching cancer early on increases, as does the chance of survival.
Avoiding the doctor because you're afraid of bad news or the snap of a rubber glove won't make the problem go away. More than 10,800 men die from prostate cancer each year. There are of course, many more cancers; unspoken enemies like bowel and testicular cancer.
Don't be afraid to speak up. If you think something is wrong, go and see a doctor. They should always be your first port of call.
